Nature’s Cycle: Bioenergy and GLP

What is Bioenergy?

Bioenergy is energy that is gained from natural resources such as wood, plant and animal waste. It is an alternative green fuel that uses waste materials, such as unwanted logs, leafage and animal waste (such as manure) to create renewable and sustainable energy sources for domestic and commercial use, whilst limiting the impact of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs).

Services such as forestry, farming and livestock rearing typically produce massive amounts of regularly untreated waste, which decomposes into harmful GHGs such as methane and carbon dioxide. The remaining decomposed matter seeps into waterways, creating dead zones where algae and other microorganisms overpopulate, killing the natural ecosystem.

A 2012 study conducted by the Food and Water Watch found that the largest concentrated animal feeding operations led to an excess of 369,000,000 tons of waste, which accounted for over 13 times the waste produced by the United States population alone.

Untreated waste is a serious danger to the environment, leading to less agricultural land, increased water pollution and forcing up the value of land due to the need for ‘lagoons’ of waste materials, antibiotic runoff and caustic cleaning solutions used in the production of food. This results in heavy metal contamination in soil, air pollution and ammonia pollution, which transfers to animals and then into the food we eat.

Treating waste materials properly, and creating systems to deal with the waste, such as biogas, wood manufacturing and contained decomposition facilities can help turn this ecological liability into a green asset.

Applications of Bioenergy to Decentralised Technology

Apart from being used in domestic and commercial heating, Bioenergy can be applied directly to the growth of decentralised systems. One of the greatest energy sinkholes (and analogous to cryptocurrency critics’ core arguments against Bitcoin) is the massive energy usage within the industry.

Cambridge’s Center for Alternative Finance (CCAF) claims Bitcoin’s energy usage as 110 Terawatt hours (TwH) every year, which is about the same as the energy usage of countries such as Malaysia and Sweden, with the majority of energy usage centred on crypto mining operations. This would be enough to provide heat and light to approximately 10,346,124 US homes for an entire year.

With such a massive energy consumption, many critics argue that Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are simply not worth the drain on global resources that they create every year for the benefit they provide, a burden that is only set to increase as adoption increases.

Bioenergy can be a saving grace for the cryptocurrency industry. On an industrial scale (as shown by the Food and Water Watch study above), 1 ton of manure, when processed into bioenergy (by combustion, digestion or otherwise) produces approximately 0.56 Gigawatt Hours of energy. With 369 million tonnes of processed waste, it produces 206.64 Terawatt Hours, almost twice the energy requirement of major mining operations in 2021.

Bioenergy can also be applied to secondary systems in decentralised technology, such as the manufacture, certification and trade of carbon credits.

With the proper systems in place, the crypto industry can become completely renewable, eliminating one of the key criticisms and greatly reducing the impact of mining operations on climate change.

How is GLP part of the change?

Greener Life Pastures Ltd. is now taking steps to entering this industry for the benefit of all communities worldwide. With renewables set to represent 40% of the energy production growth (International Energy Industry, 2018), it is one of the fastest growing and ethically sound business models in the world.

In January 2023, GLP began its domestic biomass energy operations in cooperation with JD Forestry. Together, they are producing, recycling and transporting plant-based waste materials to biodigesters, manufacturers and biogas facilities alike. GLP is officially producing steady revenue every year, which is used to the benefit of our supporters, both in traditional and decentralised finance. With strong expansion plans, such as the implementation of our own in-house biodigesters, heating engines and increased, affordable fuel operations to domestic households, this is only set to increase over time.

GLP is now planning for international expansion by setting up facilities in prime locations to produce viable energy sources for domestic, commercial and mining needs.

Step by step, GLP is reclaiming energy production for the masses, and providing a brighter, efficient and cleaner future for all.

What does this mean for our supporters?

As members of GLP’s community, we want to give back to those who have supported us, and those who are now being drawn to supporting green energy businesses worldwide. As part of our model, members of our community/Investors will be selected for prizes and benefits for being part of our message for a cleaner future, through giveaways, chart buybacks and more.

Greener Life Pastures will continue to show its appreciation for those who have stuck by us through thick and thin, and will continue to do so as the project and company continues to expand.

We are the future, we are GLP.
